I recently re-designed the website for artist and illustrator Kelsey Linnartz. We began the re-design process by discussing the background and goals of her business. She expressed how she wanted to appeal to high budget clients, and hoped her website would appear elevated and professional while maintaining the spirit of her colorful, playful illustrations. We analyzed her competitors web pages, to better understand their design strengths and identify how her redesign could level up and differentiate her services. What resulted was two rounds of revisions, the first in wireframe format, outlining how the sections could be organized strategically. We discussed the content Kelsey felt was most important to attract new clients within their first 5-7 seconds of viewing the homepage. Sharing her recent collaborations towards the top of her homepage was a crucial feature to attract potential clients, as they can clearly see her ample experience working with other successful, recognized brands. The next stage in the design process was deciding on the style guidelines that would inform the color, font, and image direction found throughout each page. What resulted was a website that beautifully reflected Kelsey's products and services, through strong branding, scroll animations, clear call to actions, and cohesive imagery.
Salacia Treasure is a small nyc jewelry brand by Karis Reiter, featuring handmade earrings and necklaces crafted with the shells she's collected while exploring the Rockaways. The name Salacia comes from the goddess of the water and sea and we wanted her branding to reflect this. What resulted was a custom drawn font that encapsulates the waves and natural flow of the ocean. The brand illustrations reflect the materials that define her unique designs while the color palette is light and balanced, nodding to ocean blues, with soft gold and light pink calling on the mysticism of Salacia.
